Brake calipers, Powder coated or painted???

Does anyone know where you can send brake calipers for powder coating? Is there any specialist caliper companies that strip the calipers and then powder coat/paint them?

or

Is it best just to sand em and paint em yourself with High temp paint?

I just painted mine with hight temp paint myself mate.

 A little time, effort and patience and they come out looking ace!

Dave knows brakes thru and thru and has established links exclusively for powder coating brakes. they are properly stripped, blasted, powder coated and built back up.

Ive had two sets done from him now and they're always bang on.

You dont want a powder coating dude taking your brakes apart do you?

and you dont want a mechanic painting your brakes do you? lol

I'm not sure if DaveB is still doing brakes. I think I read somewhere that he is leaving them alone now.....but I could be wrong

The front R32 set up are very easy to seperate for powder coating 4 big bolts from memory and you have seperated the piston housing from the front of the caliper, this is the bit you want to paint or p/coat.

So by spliting the front caliper do you expose the piston/internals? Want to split mine to paint but don't want to disturb the workings of the caliper.

Dave is based Preston way mate

He's done some S3 calipers in red powdercoat for me recently, fully serviced etc and a top job! 

DS2500s are a really good pad albeit a little on the pricey side imo and will be fine for road use, i've gone for the Mintex 1144 which are a DS2500 equivalent for a good bit less ££ and without the pad deposit issues that come with the DSs, worth a look imo

Well I am gonna give em a go with some Black high temp paint. If they don't come out very well I will get em powder coated. I just don't know whether to get brush-on or spray paint.

Can anyone tell me what is best to clean them with before I paint them? I was going to get some sort of brake cleaner. Is this ok for cleaning calipers and discs? If so is it ok all over the calipers? (even on the rubber bits).
