Just received my red painted rear R32 brakes few days ago from Dave so I guess he's still in the business 

I'll drop him a "pm" then  anyone know where he is based?

Also, not really on topic, but does anyone know about the ds2500 pads? are they any good for normal everyday use? and can these be used on the front with standard pads on the rear?

He's done some S3 calipers in red powdercoat for me recently, fully serviced etc and a top job! 

DS2500s are a really good pad albeit a little on the pricey side imo and will be fine for road use, i've gone for the Mintex 1144 which are a DS2500 equivalent for a good bit less ££ and without the pad deposit issues that come with the DSs, worth a look imo

I've been reading some bad things about the mintex pads (the cheap ones-not the 1144's) A lot of people saying the OEM pads are better.

Does anyone know how much the OEM R32/S3 pads cost, and where best to get them?

The ones in that ebay ad are just generic oem stuff by the look of them...

Good OEM equivalent pads from the likes of Pagid, ATE or Textar will be exactly the same as the ones from the factory, Euro car parts stock both the Pagid and ATE ones and the Textars can be got from GSF, prices from around £40 - £50 depending where you get them from and around £75ish from the dealer,

OEMs will be find for the road but will give up fairly easy if your planning on any track action so maybe think about a pad upgrade? DS2500s can be got from Camskill for around £140 or the Mintex 1144s for £95ish also from Camskill..

I sourced my 1144s via DaveB on here as he can get them a bit cheaper than Camskill

OEM pads in the standard rears should be fine for light track work and a few laps of the Ring imo..

Well I have painted the rear calipers and they look great. Only thing is I have used a Very High Temp paint which I thought was a gloss black finish. Turns out to be a very matt finish... more like blackboard paint. 

I will give this a bit of a rub down and use some gloss black next time.

Can anyone recommend a suitable gloss black spray paint?

Would this be any good?

Just resurrecting the thread for a quick bit of advice.

Am struggling to find good caliper paint which has a gloss finish. loads seem to be matt!

For freshening black front Scirocco R 345mm brakes, would paint temp to 300 degrees C be adequate? Not really using for track days at all, just road use. Matt finish paints go past 500 degrees but as mentioned before gives a blackboard type finish which I definitly dont want!

Maybe possible to put matt and then clear paint/laquer also for high temp??

Ive always used foliatec caliper paint. Its a two part epoxy style paint that goes rock hard and seems to be resistant to brake fluid.  Its brush on but dries to a smooth finish.

Available in loads of different colours from euro car parts.

Just painted.them Carlo  like i did with mine- then if they  do get chipped.you can touch.them.up.instead of sending them away and having no.car.for a fortnight  if they need power coating
