MK5 GTI DSG stalling?!
« on: January 24, 2022, 12:51:59 am »
I’ve reached an impasse.

Purchased my MK5 GTI DSG as a keeper. Had no issues with DSG initially until one day it just wouldn’t move after putting it in Drive. Then had issues with it lurching from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to 2nd. Now if I merely reverse the thing onto a pavement or out of my ever so slightly inclined driveway, the whole car shakes and feels as though it will stall just as a manual would.

I’m aware of three things these issues might relate to starting from what I think is the most costliest:

1. Mechatronics is finished (130k)
2. Flywheel has play
3. Dogbone mount and inserts worn

I’m not mechanically inclined so any thoughts on what the issue  may be would be appreciated. At times I do think to save myself the hassle, sell it for what it is and treat myself to a MK7 R. Before I make any rash decisions however I await your thoughts.

Many thanks.
