at 106k pretty sure the mounts need done, engine fronts seem easy enough, but the dogbone circle insert looks slighty more difficult pretty much all the videos ive seen have had to cut it out,

You have to drop the subframe to do the main "big" bush so it's a pain. Look at the various inserts available as another option.

I fitted a yellow Powerflex insert and replacement dogbone. I left the original bush because it looked like a massive pain. In addition I did gearbox and engine mounts at the same time. Really tightened things up.

All of the bolts are one time use by the way, so ideally you should replace.

im aware of the stretch bolts, i just wanted to check if anyone had replaced pendulum mount without removing subframe, i have seen it done in videos but involved cutting old one out and using rubber malet to tap new one in, i know that with the revo one they provide you with a tool for pressing old out and new one in but even the guys from shop dap couldnt get it to work, would prefer to change rather than insert because your just masking the issue to me,

Laser produce a tool that allows you to remove the bush without dropping the subframe, although it’s £££ pricey. I’m not sure if you could hire one?

Christ, you could buy a brand new subframe from VW for that, and a Vibratechnics bush!

It's dead easy dropping the subframe on axle stands.  Remember, you're only dropping the section that holds the steering rack and bush.  The ancillary subframes for wheel alignment stay put.  I've done it twice on the drive.  Takes about 30 mins after it's all jacked up etc.

dropping subframe isnt the issue its the removal of the part, will it still require a press to install or can it be cut out and tapped back in?

Just try a mallet to put the new one in and if it doesn't work, take it and the subframe down to a local garage and get them to press it in.  Being plastic, I can't imagine it's that tight a fit.

I've only ever used Vibratechnics bushes, which just drop in.
