Fitting GTi Mk5 waste gate actuator
« on: February 05, 2022, 04:30:16 pm »
Hi guys,

Got a new Forge actuator as existing one is on way out - as diagnosed by rolling road tuner.

Does anyone know from experience if you can fit this without removing the Turbo (mine is a K03 not Ed30).

Ive had a look behind engine and it looks like you need to be a magician to get at the Actuator (underneath the exhaust manifold) or have hands the size of a 5 year old ....

Any views or advice welcome .... cheers Guys

Yes it is tight up there, but I managed to swap out my turbo with large hands.
I struggled till I decided to drop the drive shaft just off the gearbox, it gives a lot more room - but for the waste gate you only need to undo the adjuster under the car and 2x (iirc) 10mm bolts.

This listing has a spot on picture of the bracket mount & shaft

yes it's doable with turbo in situ. mine took about 2 hours to fit by an experienced vw tech.
Without traction power is nothing!
