AIR FILTER PIPERCROSS vs K&N Air Filter
« on: March 31, 2010, 03:32:39 pm »
Just starting to think about modding and was wondering what would be the best out of these two?

AIR FILTER PIPERCROSS or  K&N Air Filter

Was also thinking of getting a remap soon, my car has done 9000 miles would this be an issue at all for a remap?

thanks
 :stupid:

I recently replaced my stock panel filter with a Pipercross one and my car has a stage 1 remap. Everythings been fine with it so far and it goes like the clappers. I think the Pipercross is cheaper than the K&N too?

As far as panel filters go the Pipercross or the VWR (which apparently is a Pipercross) seem to be the most popular mate.

I've been told by the VW Techy that services my car that fitting a K&N Panel filter will give my slightly better fuel economy and a bit better responce.

Now other people tell me dont fit one as the oil from it will knacker my air flow sensor.

So who is right and what do others recommend

I'm no expert but surely there won't be too much difference between any of the performance panel filters? If in doubt get the Pipercross like I have. Its cheap, oil free and I can confirm that it works a treat. :happy2:

Does the Pipercross panel filter just drop straight in?
And, is there any change in the engine sound at all?

Yep. Drops straight in mate. Other than a slightly louder DV noise on let off its no different.

When I fitted a K&N panel filter in my TT the fuel consumption dropped on the display.. Is this the case with the GTi?

Can't say I ever noticed a difference as I had mine remapped and the DV replaced within a day.
