maf hitachi , vw?

i have been told that hitachi is who makes the maf and that its cheaper than buying from the dealers is this accurate

I presumed they were Bosch but I could very easily be wrong.

the only ones available are hitachi, and i read a couple of post from people who said that hitachi is the maker of the vw ones much like pierburg do the dvs

Hitachi do make the genuine ones as it is on mine and a friends GTI

Yep, made by Hitachi. The HPFP is also made by them.

Be suspicious of MAFs that are too cheap.  It's a critical sensor, so don't cheap out on the important stuff.
