golf gti mk5 30 edition dsg.
« on: March 29, 2010, 01:53:15 pm »
hi guys, thinking of defo getting a gti 30 edition dsg.
Just a few questions about it.
the dsg gearbox, how much can it handle bhp wise, won't slip at santa pod with 350bhp+??
Also revo's dsg software upgrade, does that make shifts faster down and up??
ATB quaife diff needs to be fitted, how much we looking for that and who's the best for tuning the whole thing and fitting the diff. im near bedfordshire so anywhere near there would be ideal.
The r32 rear bumper conversion with exhaust, what tuning place will do that for me.

Im going to have about 2'800-3'000 to spend on the 30 edition. What bhp to you think i should be able to raise with that amount spent on it??

Thanks

As your pretty local I would go directly to Revo in Daventry for the mapping/tuning and try APS for the Diff  :happy2:

APS can probably do the R32 rear bumper stuff as well

Putting the r32 rear on an ed 30 is a step in the wrong direction.

Have you seen an Edition 30 you are after?
If not, mine is completely stock, and up for grabs - link in sig

Also, check out Hurdy's build thread for a little inspiration with what the ED30 is capable of............and remember to keep saving mate, once you step on the modding road, there's no turning back - and the guys here will do nothing but help............and make you bankrupt in the process!!

well rear bumper wise i just thinks its too bold looking, think jonny's one looks good with the lower part of the bumper black, the bit that is inline with the exhaust, just to give it that rear defuser look.
Well to get a diff fitted its about £1000
remap stage one £500
coilovers £600-800
induction kit £200+
cat back blueflame £400
Down pipe exhaust £300+ (with decat if thats better)
bigger injectors ? don't know how much
stage 2 revo ? don't no price.

All i need is 340bhp+, with a lsd, coilovers (maybe better break pads) and the rear defuser bit im on about changing.
How much will i need for that set up and what do you recommend????
Seen a few videos on youtube where a 330bhp edition 30 with a dsg smashes m3's ...one video its exactly the same as a r8 from a rolling start.......bloody rapid.

Hi Adam,

If you are getting a diff fitted for a DSG it is a little more than a manual diff. The diff I managed to get hold of for just over £800 and then fitting would be around £400, so bank on a minimum of £1,200.

Be careful what quality of coilovers you go for as some will last and others won't

Bigger injectors?? - why would you need these? the OEM injectors are fine.

Stage 2 REVO - approx £550ish see link below.

http://revotechnik.com/products/softwareProduct.aspx?pvID=990

Don't forget as a minimum rear anti-roll bar, WALK kit and Dogbone insert.

Intakes - EVOM's ITG or Forge Twintake and you'll be happy, DBilas will see slightly less gains, but is quieter.

HTH :happy2:

Golf R gone.

thanks for you help guys. Injectors somebody said about changing them on the seatcupranet. forum.
Revo stage 1+ dsg software
cat back
induction
lsd
coilovers kw's.

For the time being that would be a good set up without spend millions.
Maybe looking around the 310-320bhp mark with these mods yes??

you might want full exhaust and stage 2 software to hit 320, but then you may aswell get the fuel pump on there aswell for some big gains  :happy2:

Totally agree, that will look sh*t! best thing about the Ed30 is that no one knows how quick it is! I was far off a DB9 and im only stage 2 DSG!

If you want to take it to that kind of power, you will probably also want to think about stopping the thing. I am in the process of pricing all the bits up and to go from stock its looking in the region of £6-£7k before the diff. That price is including brakes and labour however.

I can see its going to be a slippery and very steep slope when i get my new car

i wasnt keen on the idea until paulk posted his pics up, looks very special and with buckets too

personally i would say dont rush it too much as you can enjoy your car as it is then if you feel the need to mod do it in stages and you can see the gains to each mod that way. saying that if i had another eddy or S3 it would be straight to stage 2+ if i could afford to do it.  :driver:

standard breaks no good then, its only going to be used for fast road use, just change the pads and upgrade the front disc's should help it out a bit???
Its going to be well over £4000 with labour with the bits i mentioned, maybe £5500. better get saving, summer coming up, looking forward to those pod days.
