Is this normal - stainless exhaust
« on: March 05, 2022, 10:24:26 am »
I've just washed my car for the first or second time having had a Scorpion stainless exhaust fitted about a month ago, and noticed that the edge of the tips look like they are rusting??? I'm sure a bit of autosol and elbow grease will have them looking right again but I didn't expect to get this at all? And should I be concerned about the rest of the exhaust under the car? Or is this but of marking at the tip to be expected? First time having a stainless exhaust.

On closer inspection it might have been a false alarm. I'm not sure it was rust, just rust coloured road grime.

Here they are after a polish... Just because they're pretty

You get a lot of metallic particles on the road from brakes etc, plus disc/pad dust coming off your own car.  It clings to the rear bumper and sides of the car, which you can see if you use that wheel cleaner that turns purple when it reacts with iron.  Maybe it's just that stuck to the tips?

My oem tips rotted away completely from lack of cleaning, so keep on top of it
