MK5 GTI Headlights
« on: March 20, 2022, 05:44:46 pm »
Hi guys,

i'm looking to replace my headlights as i'm sick of polishing them every few months.

Can anyone recommend where to buy OEM looking MK5 GTI headlights from? (hoping for a simple change over)

Whilst i'm at it i'm going to replace the front plastic grills to freshen up the front end.

Thanks :)

Flat them down with 800grit wet and dry and get the lacquered at a bodyshop, they won't need constantly polishing then.

I got mine from carparts4less.  Hella ones
Part nos 471443290 and 471443300.  Paid about £230 for them.  Very similar to OE, just didn't have the VW logo on the main beam.  Also needed to use one of the bulb holders from the original lights.

This should work.

I've used those kits before using different grade paper then polish and spray with a clear coat (3 coats of clear coat) and 3 months later they need doing again.

Wonder what the TYC headlights are like?

That's why you get them done professionally by a bodyshop using 2k lacquer, not a kit that has cheap 1k lacquer.
It needs to be hard wearing and UV blocking, which most 1k lacquers are not.
