coding my new mfsw
« on: March 26, 2022, 10:12:48 pm »
Hi All
Apologies if this has been asked before
New to this forum and was looking for a bit of guidance on making my new MFSW work.
I have a 2006 golf mk5 and have purchased a multi function steering wheel for it (genuine
VW)
I have installed the wheel however none of the buttons work and i assumed that i just need to get it coded by someone with VCDS.
On further reading i think i might also need a steering column control unit but not sure.
The car has never had a MFSW on it and has midline clocks (not a highline display).
Any help an guidance on this much appreciated including who i can go to for coding via VCDS as i do not have this myself

I think most use the 1K0-953-549-CH steering control module  I bought my module from HK for £50 Its still working  :happy2:
If your lucky to get the search function to work on this forum there will be loads of info If not GOOGLE "retrofit" "install"

Thanks Terrier
Much appreciate reply just one question the part number you have given that part would suggest it has a steering wheel angle sensor?
I should have said my car is an 2006 R32 i am not sure but i believe it has an Electro Mechanical Steering Assist.
Any recomendations on who are a good company for coding as i did use one up in the Midlands for battery drain but have lost their number...I live in Surrey was a fair old drive from what i can remember
