Part of the reason these cars soldier on is because we spend so much money on them. My 2006 car is on 145k but it came with a history file that was an inch thick.

You could keep a 70s Fiat on the road with the amount I get done. It isn’t rocket science. 😆

A 70s FIAT would have crumbled to a pile of rust by 1985

😂😂😂 ive found a cam chain service kit which comes with the chain guide and vvt clutch for 120 new is this too cheap or about right? And how much am i talking for fitting if i dont give it a go myself, av changed bottom arms fuel pumps headlights bumpers interiors exhausts turbo on my old pd1.9 so i think i could give it a go once i get all the timing tools to lock everything in place

I was looking closely at this job until I tested with VCDS and found I had no issue with the chain. Make sure you actually need to do the job if you haven’t checked. I was quoted £650 just for the chain (including parts) by an independent so was planning to have a go.

It doesn’t seem that difficult, with the pitfalls being (1) buying a cheap cam locking tool and having it fail and (2) rounding the bolt that holds the adjuster to the cam. Neither are that big a deal.

I’d try and get a kit from a good brand like Febi or similar. No idea on cost of parts.

I hear their front wings and boot hatches are shocking.  :rolleye:
