Yeah I think I'd prefer the TCR or Clubsport over the R. Better still, the Clubsport S but not at that money, if you can get one!  Where I live, 4WD would just be excess baggage 90% of the time. I don't do launches (I'm nearly 50  ) or snow driving.

i am aware that they are not especially fast when stock, compared with a stage 2 mk5 gti with over 20ft lbs more torque and 150kg lighter, but when lowered and mapped different story by all accounts, my mistake i should have said i was really looking for differences like for like, pointless having anymore power in the gti as get wheel spin even in 3rd,and they are fun cars just not fast cars, if i was to try and put some descent power in it with a k04 or hybrid then even with a lsd you will still be losing grip until 4th, heard same thing from mk7 gti guys even the ones with the pp and lsd say it makes little difference when you are running near 400 ft lbs of torque, must try and get a test drive in a lowered and tuned one to see for myself, thanks all

I had a 67 plate 7.5R DSG before my Ed30. I never really took to it and I'd buy the GTI over a R every time.
