Forging (Who to use?)
(1/1)

As the title says folks it's time I got the Eddy forged. Don't have the time or frankly the expertise to do this to a high enough standard so I want it to go so somewhere that specialises with this type of work.
I'm near Glasgow but don't mind sending the car away to get done. Any suggestions would be appreciated especially any feedback with people who have a forged engine from these companies.
Cheers

I would be tempted to try Decimal Tenths in Newcastle https://decimaltenths.co.uk/
Their You tube channel has several engine builds including fully forged big power builds and have their own in house rolling road and do custom remaps.
They know their way around a TFSI well and for you its not too hard to get back to the wege on the train.

If you get some drop-in pistons, that will get around the need for boring/honing. Nothing beats the factory honing in my experience. Poorly honed bores will cause huge oil consumption, which I've experienced too often with rebuilds.
I think Wossner do drop-ins for these motors. I've used them in the past and they're pretty good.
Depending on your power goals, you may not need rods as they ramp up the price a fair chunk!

Cheers mate ill definitely take that into account. Suppose any honing/boring and piston size requirements will depend on the condition its in ill likely go with whatever is recommended at the time but I will ask the question.
Yeah I'll definitely be putting upgraded rods in plus all new bearings fasteners etc etc pretty much want it a one time deal if it's getting split down. I'd take recommendations and other suggestions of work to get done at the same time or any tips youve encountered, helps me ask the questions...ideally want full shebang with headwork etc....not to push the power just for longevity. Not wanting a 1.8t oil pump conversion however. Got a couple places to check out.

Let us know how you get on with Decimal tenths - they are literally on the south bank of the tyne just under the A1.
Their YT channel had been quiet for a few months, just started upgrading his personal Mk5 + they are building a race Mk5 too
