Made my own service book
« on: May 24, 2022, 01:37:20 pm »
Seems my old service book was full, and the last couple of services were done by me, I wanted to start a new book under my ownership. Seen a few on eBay for a few quid but wasn’t what I wanted so knocked my own up. I have added a couple of things I think should be done…
Feel free to use it.

I made my own Log years ago....on Excel. But using/considering the information found in the Service Interval Book I have (and based on the one you linked). So when I do work, I just go into Excel and change 'O' to 'X' and add the date...mileage or whatever;

Although it has brought to light that my fuel filter is 100,000miles old so that will be getting change ASAP

It riled me when I bought mine with the receipts, the cars been serviced every year at a VW dealer (apart from its last) and they had a plastic wallet with all the receipts in. But they wouldn’t give them to me because of data protection…..!
I asked if they could accidentally drop it outside and they just laughed at me. As soon as I’d handed the cash over they run them through the shredder…

Just checked mine.  I've spent £8859 in 6 years and 10 months.  That's servicing, repairs, tax, insurance.  Basically everything except fuel and cost of car.

If your filter bracket screw has rusted solid like mine, good luck with that  :grin:   I might have to get the dremel out and use cable ties instead.

And good luck getting the pipes off! Even though mine had been dealer serviced every year, there’s no evidence of the fuel filter ever being changed. The pipes were practically welded on…
I squirted some wd40 into the screw head and it came out with some gentle persuasion.

The fuel filter isn't included in the servicing schedule  :stupid:  Probably because the factory knew once it's shoved under the car in a such a stupid place, it's there for good  :grin:

But you're right, soak the bundy fittings with penetrating oil before attempting to unclip them.  I've seen people force them off, which leaves the guts of the fitting on the filter, resulting in a new pipe(s) being needed.....which is the length of the car and major ££££s  :grin:

I have selective memory loss when it comes to car bills, and for the sake of peace and harmony in the household, the cost of parts I report to the missus is naturally a third of their real price  :grin:

Got a few jobs which are way over due but these will be rectified this summer. I think there are a few things missing from my receipts so it’s not 100% accurate but it’s close enough.
