New Battery

After fitting a new battery last night the car seems to be running a lot smoother, definitely starts easier and I'm expecting an increase in mpg too. 

Another plus is filling it with Kirkland's finest unleaded at my local Costco in Watford, it clearly loves the stuff and to me, runs better than when on Shell V Power.  Talking to one of the lads at the gym who has a 17 plate Golf R he can't stop raving about how much more shove his car appears to have after filling up at Costco too. Anybody else notice this?

Last time I looked it was 95 for normal and 97 for the premium

I can access and have used Costco premium - its 97 Ron.
In the past, I had been using Sainsbury premium, did not notice any real change swapping to Costco premium, except price.
Up until recently - I had been exclusive with Tesco Momentum - but as fuel prices seem to be still heading North, for once I listened to the wallet & brimmed at Costco, my butt dino detected a very slight drop in performance.

A slight amusing aside - during a fill up fill up at Costco 3 months ago and I was amused to see the guy in front putting £20 of poverty spec unleaded into his brand new Porsche Cayenne - all fur coat, no knickers!

Haha that's like when you see people in 60/70k performance cars like an m4 or porsche and they've got crappy non matching tyres on all 4 wheels, why?

After the ECU has done it's adaptations. Normally takes about 250-500 miles for a full relearn of your driving style.

Probably because, 1) they know feck all about cars, and therefore fuel or tyre quality......and 2) huge monthly payments on the car     Everyones feeling the pinch

After the ECU has done it's adaptations. Normally takes about 250-500 miles for a full relearn of your driving style.

I just expected it to as I assumed I wouldn't have to push so hard on the accelerator to get the same momentum as the octane rating is higher, you get more power per cc of fuel. The downside is I think I used more as I enjoyed the shove in the back more. Doh!  Just filled with £45 Costco unleaded and it still felt good, just not with the same 'kick' as the super. Probably lasted about 100 or so miles as back and forth the parents a couple of times, meaning up and down the M1 with a 60 miles round trip.
