Mk7 GTD with a DSG gearbox
« on: May 26, 2022, 07:56:57 pm »
Would it be idiotic to buy a mk7 GTD on 60k that has no record of a DSG service? The dealership says they’ll do one before they hand the car over to me but is it already too late?

Does anyone have any tips on how to test a DSG is working properly? I’ve never driven one before. Are there any warning signs to look out for?

I wouldn't say it's idiotic.  Buying any used car is a gamble.  It's probably a good warning sign of prior ownership standards though.  One skipped service is unlikely to be in too late territory, but personally I would swerve one that's skipped such an important service as the doubt can eat away at you.

So long as the shifts are smooth and there's no nasty noises pulling away, coming to a stop etc, generally that's a good sign.
