Changing front seats
« on: June 18, 2022, 12:33:36 pm »
Just want to check before I knock my head off...
Disconnect battery and wait 30 mins.
Disconnect connection under seats.
Undo the 4 bolts. (what size are they and are they easy to undo or need a spray a while before?)

Cheers.

Sounds about right.  Do GTI seats have airbags? If so, those yellow connectors can be a bit finnicky, so don't be too shocked if you get an airbag warning light afterwards   In my old MK4, I just sprayed a bit of contact cleaner on the plugs and reconnected to shift the fault.

Hoping they come out ok and can reuse.... Maybe I'll spray them before tackling.

Make sure the spline bit is seated correctly before attempting to remove the bolt Or else is vice grips :scared:

I took mine out to clean last year July, just used the correct spline on a half inch ratchet and they all came out no problem.
I didn't disconnect the battery though and had no issues, in hindsight I should have and would do next time.
