As the title says really, is there an app available that I can use with my Bluetooth dongle that will allow me to look at the timing on the inlet cam ? I've got torque pro, but as far as I can see, you can't do that with it.
I cant afford to buy vcds at the moment.

You could try OBD11 which is the next best thing.

VAG don't put much information at all into the generic OBD data stream, which is all most apps can read.

If you have an ELM27 Bluetooth device then I believe the Carly app will work with it. You can use OBDEleven, but you will need to buy the dongle, as it will not work with the ELM27.

Pretty sure I've got it sorted now in my icarsoft vaws handset. The only problem is, the reading never stays stable, seems jump around all the the time from 0 to -4 or thereabouts so I don't actually know what the true value is.
The chain isn't noisy, just want to know how much stretch is on it.

Pop out the cam position sensor and wipe off any swarf magnetized to it. See if it helps with the changing of position. If not, put out a request for someone near, you who has VCDS, to look at it for you. Hopefully you'll have something for yourself when you wish to check it again.

0 to -4KW on the static timing channel is normal.
