Will 18x8.5 ET45 cause fitment issues?
« on: August 20, 2022, 11:20:01 pm »
Disclaimer straight away, this is for my 06 Octavia vRS, not a MK5, but I think their arches are nearly identical

Getting a bit sick of the 18" factory Zenith alloys on my Octy. They are also in pretty dire need of a refurb, and I could use new tires too, all a valid excuse to consider new wheels.

I really like the look of the 18" Bola B1 alloys, but the 18s come in 8.5J at ET40-45, which would make the wheels stick out 18.7mm more than factory, and also 6.7mm closer to the suspension. Since I'd be buying them new I could choose to go for a staggered offset setup with the rear alloys being et 40 instead of 45 to match the front track width better.

I would be sticking to 225/40R18 for the tires.

My suspension is completely stock and will be for the foreseeable future, should I be at all worried about rubbing? If I do lower it, will it be an issue then?

As for the colour of the wheels, my Octy is black so there's only so many wheel colours that could suit it. In your opinion, what wheel colour would be best? Picture attached for reference

As well as a picture of the Bola B1s

As always, all replies appreciated
