Brembo discs warping?
« on: August 12, 2022, 12:44:05 am »
Got a bit of shaking going on when braking.
Has anyone had issues with Brembo discs warping at all?
upgraded the fronts to mk7r 340s, rears are standard.

What other make of discs are ok? Ate has been mentioned.

Just road use,  and not ragged much at all so if they have warped then that pretty poor....

Cheers.

New discs or 2nd hand with the 7r calipers? I've put my old brembo discs through he'll on my old std setup on Road and on multiple track days  and they were the only thing that didn't fail on that setup.  They are generally good quality.

My Brembo rears warped pretty soon after fitment   Rears ffs, they only do 30% of the braking and they still warped

As we've discussed before, everyone thinks of giant Lambo/Ferrari brakes whenever the word Brembo comes up, but they sell cheap junk in the aftermarket like a lot of other brands.  Just for reference, my Brembos (and pads) were the standard spec ones from ECP and both are terrible.  Not using them again.

Lewo - go ATE or genuine VW.  And make sure the hub mating surface is sanded back completely flat before fitting a new disc onto them.

I’ve been using EBC turbo groove discs for a while now and they have stood up well. I know EBC haven’t got a great reputation but I think in recent years their quality has improved significantly.

Never had brembo HC discs warp. They seem well made to me. As pudding alludes to, not all brembo are made alike

Not heard of Brembo HC, these are different from the standard Brembo?

£?

Can’t remember exactly - got them from https://www.ebcbrakeshop.co.uk/ with a 15% discount they were offering at the time. Watch you get the right size - rears are 286mm (they also sell a 260mm which didn’t fit my Eddy).

Yeah get them clinically clean as its surprising how little dirt on the hub face can cause major disc run out.

My brembo rear discs and pads are perfectly fine. Go with what you like and a trusted brand I say.
Forums will always have lovers and moaners of the same subject.

Copper grease is made up of copper filings - so not ideal between disc and hub.
ceramic grease or nothing would be better choices.

Mintex link talking about grease...not the  is the word is the word one:
