Wipers slowed then stopped, burning electrical smell.
« on: August 13, 2022, 03:37:53 am »
Something else to sort...
So this evening the wipers worked very slowly for a couple of wipes then stopped.
Could smell electrical burning 🙄
Will have a look tomorrow.
Lights seemed ok but will check the battery.
Wiper motor seized, does that happen on these?
I'm no good with the spanners so a mate will have a proper look for me, just trying to carry out some checks beforehand.
So any thoughts please?
Cheers.

My rear motor did that it got weak and would stop if the screen was dry I sprayed wd40 down the shaft and that helped for a while but then I would smell burning sometime and eventually it stoped working didn’t damage any of the harness as the fuse never blew so it didn’t draw too much current to burn out the wire just a straight swap my rear was just water ingress over the years guessing you front will be the same

Not common on the front one, but they do slow down with age.  I hate to think how much that's going to cost from VW!

See how it is when the weather cools off as I'm sure this crazy heat can't be helping matters.
