Vibration on braking
«

Hi guys
I'm new to the forum recently bought myself a mk5 gti
I'm getting a bad vibration on braking in the steering wheel but not so much in the pedal
It has audi s3 brakes on it and drilled discs but they seem OK not warped and it has polybush console bushes (i think thats the name for it... the ones on the lower arm in the ally casting) which I can't seem to find any play in
Does any1 have any ideas as to what else I can look at cause I'm pretty stumped now I have no play in anything
Cheers

Vibration through the wheel and or pedal is usually warped discs in my experience.

I'd agree that it really sounds like warped discs whether there's vibration in the pedal or not. I'd rule this out for definite first.

I'd also add that it is probably warped discs!
Vibration can also come from buckled wheels, or unbalanced wheels - but you'd get that all the time, not just under braking.

I guess I'm going to have to get them checked again

Not that it matters, since new discs will fix it, but discs almost never warp in reality.
What you are feeling most of the time is pad deposits, often because brakes have overheated.

I’ve had luck using proper brake pads (with a high metallic content) in the past to fix the issue.
