Black Friday…best deals?
« on: November 03, 2022, 12:21:46 pm »
So what new parts are people looking to pick up this month with Black Friday coming up?

I’ll be looking at a brake upgrade now I’m at stage 2+. Have been eyeing up the Porsche Macan front calipers with VBT 345mm discs. They seem like a decent price for what you can get.

Any thoughts on best places to look for various things?

Nice... big chunky boys they are. And reasonable like you say. I'm on 340mm with a golf r caliper so still a single pot and that was an enormous difference so that should be even better again.

I'm watching for deals on Super pro bushes to change all control arms over from rubber to Super pro and specifically their competition spec ones where applicable. Awesome gti I've found to do some black Friday deals so keeping an eye on their site mainly.

A bucket seat from GSM or Demon tweeks is also something I'm watching out for

Yeah, am hoping for a decent pedal feel. Although I’m not anticipating tracking the car and am upgrading partially for the aesthetics! I can’t be the only one?!

Do you think there’ll be much of a difference in the normal road superpro bushes to the competition ones? I take it you do some track days?

Yeah tbh they look great, being super bulky they look pretty impressive.

I'm dubious to be honest as technically the Poly bushes behave more like a bearing anyway so not sure the additional hardness rating will actually make much difference it may just be a marketing thing to present themselves  against powerflex and their competition range but it's all the same price and not bothered about ride quality so why not!

:signLOL: would be unlike a big company to use marketing to get you to pay more for something!

I’m on the look out for a decent downpipe + sports cat (BCS perhaps?). Trying to preempt when I need to replace the whole exhaust which as far as I can tell is a) original and b) mostly held together with rust and roadkill.

The next decision is what to choose as the cat-back…

I’ve not seen BCS on a deal before but milltek normally are.

Had to get a warranty replacement on my milltek sports cat. It was blowing in the flexi somewhere but couldn’t be seen. They were actually really good at getting it sorted though.

I’d be interested to see what a BCS system sounds like in comparison.

Yeah I got a miltek non res catback which I got last black Friday- about 50 quid saved. It's pretty subtle the noise difference with an oem downpipe, with a aftermarket down pipe though its probably loud enough that you don't want anything screaming down the road all the time.

I only drive mine about 2k miles a year so I don’t mind about the obnoxious noise  level. Anyone tried a Scorpion d/pipe? They’re only AwesomeGti website so might also be on a deal.

I was hoping to grab another set of VIS internals after foolishly selling mine a couple of years ago   They're £100 more expensive now  :stupid:

I can't see BF being particularly amazing this year in these austere times. They're more likely to discount stuff that doesn't sell well instead of the stuff people actually want, but we'll see!

Have they modified the VIS internals over time? I got mine a couple of months ago.

You could be right about BF this year. Although there are some adverts on the radio for places offering deals already. Alright if you’re in the market for a sofa or blinds lol

Nah, exactly the same mate.  It's just the whole world is seemingly keen to shove a lot more than inflation onto their prices!

Which is bang on the 12% current inflation.  It's a killer.  Shame my wages haven't gone up 12%

That's why I went with £90 continentals this year, instead of my usual PS4 or F1s.
