Sold the mk5, on the hunt for a new car. Edition 30???
« on: November 18, 2022, 08:35:16 pm »
With a budget of around 8k I've been looking about. So far.

Mk7 fiesta st.
208gti
Alfa romeo cloverleaf.
Meg 250 although I'd need to step up to 10k for a tidy one.
Amongst other cars....

Spotted a nice looking red ed30 the other day and got me thinking. Also a nice mk6 gti, on the same day too ha ha.

Can't decide what to go for.....

Red always looked 'too' red on the Ed30 with all the colour coded bits, mine was boring silver.

Do miss it.  :phew:

Depends what your after really! But in my biased opinion I like the VAG stuff because you get strong running gear that you can abuse and put a tonne of miles on while having decent handling and comfort but if you want to get really into hard driving on the road or on a circuit then there is a reason you see more VAG cars turned into race cars than the others you've mentioned (because they have good chassis's and very tuneable engines so can be seriously quick if prepared properly)

Something RWD for a bit of a change? E92 330/335i?

Drove an 07 plate 335 petrol a few years ago before the golf. The sale never happened sadly but what a car, absolutely loved it.

If you already have a GTI, moving to an ED30 isn't much of an upgrade.

The Fiesta would be better!

I agree with the above, a quick BMW is a logical progression from a quick VW.
