Cam lobe, should I be worried
« on: November 20, 2022, 03:30:29 pm »
Hi all, I’m a new member to the forum even though I’ve spent many hours of my life on here reading up on problems hahaha I’ve noticed one of the cam lobes that’s visible through the oil filler cap seems to be pitted and looks worn ( picture attached below) should I be concerned about this based on the below photo? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks

The rust seems odd also.

I think that's just varnishing from long drain intervals, which can look orange under white lights.  It looks a bit dry in there though.

Yeah the orange is more like deep red without the light, it’s on 137k miles with full service history allegedly. I opened the cap on idle and oil is definitely circulating around there so not sure what would cause it. The lobe next to it is in much better condition visually. Just not sure if it’s worth worrying about hahaha. Thanks for the input !
