New tyres time...
« on: November 19, 2022, 11:37:25 pm »
13k down the line the PS4s need replacing. Well the fronts defo, the rears are just over 5mm, replace or leave.......?
Temted to stick with PS4s but any others around for similar money and rated? I know Pudding has gone with Contis so will check those as well.
Black circles are around £100 each fitted (4) with the offer at the moment.
So any other deals about?

Cheers.  :happy2:

I have goodyear f1 supersports fitted year before last and kwik fit were actually the cheapest so shop around and don't ignore the big chains.

About a month ago I had to replace front pair, I looked on Camskil, Kwikfit, Farmers, National, Black circles + a few others and Costco - looking at F1 / PS4/5 - even toyed in going back to the darks ide of Kuhmos.
I found everyone to be super pricey, suspect the high energy fuel costs were inflating the prices.
Ended up with a pair of PS4s from Costco - the clincher was they had a Michelin offer with money off 2 tyres.

My favourite tyre for an all weather daily driver is the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric. I have 5 now and will move to 6 once done. Have used PS4 (in fact a great many Michelin tyres) and think the Asymmetric is just more involving.

However… I do have a bit of OCD with mixed tyres and brands on cars. So in your situation would fit a pair of PS5 for now and swap to Asym later. Alternatively, you could rotate front to back for now? Depends on how bad they are.

£100 is OK so stick with the PS4 if you like them.

I went with the Conti Premium Contact 6 for 2 reasons:

1) because it was the cheapest premium brand tyre available at the time.  I'm selling my ED30 so didn't want to spend a fortune on tyres needlessly.

2) The F1 SuperSports are bloody horrible beyond half worn.  They tug you all over the road like runflats. Ghastly things.

The Contis are just as grippy but without the harshness penalty, so they were actually a good move  :happy2:

Cheers all.
Ended up going for 2 PS4s in the end.
£197 all in, the current Blackcircles 15% off ends midnight.
I remembered earlier that the car had contis on when I got the car a few years ago and they were pretty noisy as they wore down, have no idea which ones they were though!

I ended up getting 4 x PS4 this week. Heard good things about the PS5, however they were £120 a corner whilst I managed to get the PS4 for sub £50 per corner - no brainer really  :surprised:

My F1 Supersports are more than half worn but don't feel any different. I may give the Conti a go next as the Supersports are wearing quite quick, over half worn after nearly 4k miles.

Yep.

So Costco were doing an offer, £90 per corner, with £113 cashback. Neve brought tyres from their before but my dad has membership.
I then got £50 cashback from a Michelin promotion (NOT the autumn 2022 cashback offer as that excluded Costco). I rang up Michelin and it turns out they have a separate offer not advertised on their website called "passenger in motion" which runs all year and includes Costco. They sent me a separate link which isn't on their website and I submitted my receipt there.
Submitted cashback and within 24 hours was approved by Michelin.

Thanks for this info - I hopefully will be getting £20 cashback for pair of PS4's I got fitted in September - so £70 a corner

So you can get that "Up to £100" cashback offer on top of what ever discount you already received from the tyre fitter, which is most commonly 15% off 4 x Michelins?  Seems too good to be true!
