Cambelt and timing chain
« on: January 23, 2023, 06:14:57 pm »
My mk5 has just hit 100,000 miles, had cam belt replaced at 60k, is it worth getting the belt and chain done at the same time (does it save a bit on labour cost?) or should I prioritise one or the other at this mileage?

Let your wallet decide as there is little to no labour saving do both together, being at opposite ends of the engine.

Cambelt is time and/or distance, so if 60K was over 4 years ago, then you need a belt regardless.

For preventative maintenance's sake, I'd do both personally.
