Ok, the car was an MOT failure, two CV boots, nothing major, but I also need a new heater motor and theres the ever continuing saga of the amphibious Golf that has been going on and off for over a year.  Driving a freezing cold car is not at all fun, and I recently started a new job.  Out today for a 7am start and the damned thing refuses to start.  Cue £40 for a taxi so I don't get a rocket off my boss.

I've finally had it with this.  I had this problem with starting last year despite a new heavy duty battery.  Really it has got to the stage of throwing good money after bad.

They're getting on a bit now where if they're you're only car it can cause a bit of a bother now and then, its a modern-ish car thats filled with tons of complicated bits so at this age stuff does break and sometimes all at once. I work from home 95% of the time so any break downs are just "something to do on a Sunday morning" thankfully.

Sell it.  That's what m doing with mine after the new year. Going in for the m.o.t tmr then it's getting flogged to buy a van.

It's a bit of a rant, sorry.  The water problem has been in the garage god knows how many times and while im thankful its no longer the drivers side, it makes the damn thing cold, and fusty in a middling day, never mind what we've been having where I'm covering the dashboard with ice.  The trouble is that the used car market very much seems to be a major minefield just now with a lot of crap commanding premium prices.

Breaking down twice on a hellishly busy intersection was the straw that broke my camel's back, but to be fair, over 8 years and 100K miles, it was otherwise a reliable and enjoyable car 

You're not wrong about the used car market.  There is a lot of overpriced chaff to separate from the wheat unfortunately.

Sailed through its m.o.t today 1 advisory for front tyre that's getting replaced Saturday.

Gonna sell it and get a 3.5ltr nissan elgrand. Oh yes.
