Injectors
« on: January 29, 2023, 07:40:41 pm »
Hi everyone, I have a golf mk5 GTI 2005 with an AXX engine, I had a misfire so I walnut blasted and changed 1 injector as it was £250 from oem TPS and drove the car for about 600miles all fine and now I have another misfire and I been told by the mechanic that it is another injector, does anyone know where I can get a set of oem equivalent injectors for cheaper or any advice would be appreciated.

It's oem or nothing really. You can try cleaning the existing ones by sending them to someone like R-tech performance (just call them and they'll explain the proces, it costs about 100 quid). There's always some risk that it may not fix the issue and may show up perfect in the test but in reality it still causes a misfire.

Personally I buy a 2nd hand spare injector when one of mine is misbehaving and send that 2nd hand injector along with my complete set to R Tech so if one of mine is not salvageable they can replace with the spare I bought. This bought one could be dodgy as well but you'd have to be super unlucky for an injector to be not salvageable as well as the spare. Obviously doing it this way you need to understand they're still old injectors just had a good service effectively so you may need to do this again for another failing one in a year or two time just due to wear and tear but for me I'd rather take them out and send for cleaning once a year in the worst case than pay 1k for a new set!

£250 is expensive I paid £175 each from local vw dealer they can always offer some discount
