Brake Pads
« on: February 24, 2023, 08:50:29 am »
Hi Folks,

Long time lurker, but i firstly want to say 'Pudding' is a legend. Read many of his posts which have helped me out

It's time for replacement pads for my GTI. The car is used as a daily so don't need anything OTT.

What would people recommend? Come the summer i do enjoy a little back road blast so don't want to go cheap, but its no track car so don't want something too expensive either.

Many thanks :)

Is your car standard? I'm going to suggest genuine VW pads, bought from the dealer if so. If you drive really hard, they will overheat (as will the fluid...) but generally I find that genuine pads offer a brilliant compromise between dust and performance from cold.

If you drive a Stage 5+ Edition 30 on track every weekend, then you will need something else. :happy2:

I've always had good experience with Pagid pads and discs.

ATE discs and pads from EuroCarParts would be my choice  :happy2:

If you go for genuine, have a look at Parts Depot on eBay.  Genuine VW parts at discout.  I've just them a few times.   Not sure if these fit your car, but an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284949177826?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=wdtYPdPTQPS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=HXvaO2yfRP6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
