Are r36 brakes the same as r32? And do they fit?
« on: March 17, 2023, 01:28:36 pm »
Hi guys,

I've been on the look out for a set of r32 brakes, but a set 3.6 passat brakes have turned up nearby me instead.

According to the seller they're 340mm front and 310mm rear, and will fit the mkv.

My assumption is that they're the same as r32 units, but a Google search didn't turn up any info (I assume they're rarer).

Anyone able to confirm if these will work?

99% sure they would be the same. The passat hub can be used on the mk5 with your oem brake setup, same as the TT and S3 hubs so should bolt straight up as normal.

Well another set of these came up for sale and I've maxed out my credit  :stupid:.

So hopefully will be able to confirm that they are the same in the not too distant future.

Edit FML, so after talking with a friend I was informed that these won't work on a mkv golf because passat have and electronic handbrake. So order cancelled, hopefully the seller isn't going to cause a problem, they had them advertised as an upgrade for mkv golf's.

Lesson for today, do your due diligence and double check before jumping in.
