Boot won't close - Fixed
« on: April 16, 2023, 04:39:49 pm »
This has probably already been posted in the past, but I cannot seem to use the search function, so just in case...

Yesterday the boot suddenly would not shut.
A bit of Googling showed that I probably needed a new locking mechanism.
Only about £20 on Amazon, and same day delivery  :jumping:
Easy to remove/replace, just two bolts and a clip-on electric module.
  • Note 1 - The bolts are unusual and presumably need some specialist tool, but I had something which fitted in my electric drill attachments box
  • Note 2 - I could not work out how to remove the trim to get at the bolts (removed the two obvious screws, but could not see any others?), but there was enough 'give' in the trim to pull it back and get the drill onto the bolt...although a bit of a juggling act holding the trim, holding the boot to stop it rising, and holding the drill

All now sorted  :phew:, and probably only about 10 mins work if you have the tools and knowledge (2h for me as started from ground zero)

The only issue is now that the boot take quite a slam to engage, but I had that issue with the old lock too...so something probably need adjusting...a job for the garage next time it goes in.
