RHD MK5 Brake Servo Replacement
« on: June 04, 2023, 08:51:16 pm »
Anyone attempted changing the brake servo on their MK5? Bought a PD170 with a braking issue that is being caused by the servo. Looks like a terrible job! Has anyone got any tips/tricks?

Engine needs to move out of the way on the driver's side.......so it's mount off, downpipe detached, fuel lines detached, driveshaft detached etc.... then move the engine forwards with a hoist.

Once that's done, it's just a case of unclipping the pedal from the master cylinder (there's a special tool for it, but most people make do with a screwdriver) and removing the brake lines from the Master cylinder, unbolt the servo etc, then pull it out.

It's not as bad as it sounds.  Just need the right tools.

Ah that doesn’t sound so bad! Doing it on the floor so hopefully won’t take too long!
