228 vs 240 clutch flywheel help plz
« on: May 20, 2023, 07:49:09 pm »
Hi guys,

First day/post on the forum.

I have a mk5 gti AXX 55 plate but a 2006. My clutch has gone and I need a new clutch. I saw a single mass fly wheel and since this car is the weekend seems like the way to go. I have a 6speed manual but the clutch is a 228mm which I guess is for the 5speed or a different gearbox.

My question is can I put the 228 clutch into what I think is a 240 6 speed box?

The reason id go for the 228 is it’s a new sachs 3 piece clutch kit with a single mass flywheel for £200 which Im sure has to be a good deal?

The only issue im currently seeing is the flywheel to crankcase

There is a sense of urgency as I am trying to do all this tomorrow

Any help is appreciated

Many thanks
