Timing chain issues

Morning people of this amazing g forum.

Iv just completed my first timing chain replacement on my mk5 GTI. Before the replacement it was reading -10kw on vag com and now after replacing the chain it’s now reading -10kw to -9kw. Dose anyone have any ideas on why this might be and what I need to look at when I go back in? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated, thanks in advance

Assuming you aligned the timing marks at the cambelt end, you are half a tooth off at the chain end.

That can happen if the inlet cam isn't turned counter clockwise whilst locating the VVT adjuster pegs into the exhaust cam slot.

It's possible to get the VVT adjuster onto the exhaust cam without doing that, but it increases the chances of timing drift once the engine has done 4 rotations.

Thanks pudding, the timing marks on the cam belt end were in line at TDC but I didn’t clock the intake cam clock wise when re fitting the chain so I think it’s probably that.
Im going to be going back in to it this week so I will keep you posted on how I get on.
