Edition 30 Misfiring and No Power - Logs inside
« on: July 06, 2023, 05:52:52 pm »
Hi All,

Just adding some Logs for my Ed30.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dkOBEPQGx4MBYNkPCJ4G5rIqMrLY3NL4/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=115122554673323923892&rtpof=true&sd=true

Suffered with a loss of power and misfires for a couple weeks now.

Changed Inlet manifold
checked DV
checked PCV
Smoke test shows no real leaks at the pcv/vac hoses, but there was a bit of smoke coming from the turbo, but was difficult to see where from...

Refurbed Injectors
New Coil Packs
New Spark Plugs
New cam follower

** APPARENTLY ** changed N75 and N80 but I honestly lost confidence in my mechanic, think he robbed me.
Can anyone make sense of my logs, was difficult for me to get a good run during peak traffic.

If anyone has any other measuring blocks that need logging please do let me know.

My boost gauge came which I was going to fit this weekend, plugged it in just temporarily and this is what it was showing me.

eature=share

Looks like a vac leak at idle, I’ve read it should be around 20psi/1.3bar would this translate to a boost leak under load or is it isolated? Trying to understand if this means there’s 2 or more leaks

The video shows normal behaviour. It's well below 0 (atmospheric pressure) which indicates good engine vacuum i.e. the compression is good.

You hit 143 grams/sec MAF at 5160rpm and 1.3 bar.  Pretty low as that equates to 177bhp using the MAF divided by 0.8 calculation. At that boost and rpm, the MAF should be around 200 on a mapped ED30.

It's not a happy bunny. Quite a lot of misfires at idle, which is classic injector(s) assuming the plugs and coils are OK.  I reckon it's the turbo. Either it's tired, the wastegate is in a bad mood or there's a boost leak somewhere.
