2010 MK5 GTI, how is this possible?

Seen this for sale, how in the world is it possible to have an 2010 MK5 GTI? For reference this seems to be an original Irish car.

I have seen an 06 MK1 Octavia VRS, even though they stopped selling that VRS in 2005, that was an ex-display model. But that was only off by a year from the last official year of sale.

This is off by two years? How?

My MK5 is 2009… I guess some dealers had some stock until 2010… the annoying issue with having a MK5 that’s newer than 2008… pretty much every data base the car does not exist at all… for example car insurance… I need to search my car manually as it can’t comprehend an 2009 plate MK5.

As above mine was also registered in 2009.

Seems very pricey!

Im pretty sure they made the mk5 right up until the end of 2008.  As others have said; mine is a 2009 car registered in Jan 2009 as a 58 plate. So a dealer maybe had to hang on to one for a year and register it in 2010

Strange heater controls. Says it has air con but doesn't seem to have the same as practically every other GTI I've seen.

Looks like poverty spec heater controls...like a 1.4! Date of registration and date of manufacture don't have to go hand in hand, i work as a car auctioneer and lots of things come in to play and go wrong too.

Have you tried one of those online VIN decoders?  They normally tell you the exact build date.  As others have said, it probably remained unregistered for a while.

A friend had a K reg MK2 Golf 16V way back when, which sparked up the exact same debate   It was a last of the last 1992 car, but not registered until 1993
