Coilovers
« on: July 15, 2023, 02:03:02 pm »
My nearside front coil spring just snapped - so with a bit of man maths I just thought should I use this opportunity to go coilovers all round.

Just looking for a bit of a aesthetic upgrade, a tiny drop, and oem like handling.

Thoughts? What will I be looking at for parts and fitting £££?

I did very similar man maths...in my 20's i used to race...am now 44 and my rose tinted memories were way off....you will get the drop, adjustability, etc., what you won't get is factory like ride i don't believe. My car is mostly on road, few track bits a year and not sure what your use is, but if you are on the road a fair bit i'd drive or go out with someone to see if you like it first on coilies. On the track my car drives beautifully, however the trips to and from are a bloody nightmare for me. What i should have done is gone for uprated dampers/ springs as i rarely adjust anything on it...By all means get coilovers, but make sure its not going to ruin your experience of driving is all i'll say.

Ah okay.  Well uprated dampers and springs would be a cheaper option anyway??

Any recommendationss?

I'll leave the recomendations to others, and don't let me put you off coil overs! Just make sure you can live with them day to day is all. I just know you'll be a long way from factory comfort and refinement ..it'll wibble your gibbles as the kids say to me!

I removed Eibach and went back to stock spec. Glad I did. If doing again I would fit the updated (but not shortened) Bilstein shocks as well. Note they are not cheap.

Depends on the roads around you. That will have a big impact.
