Clunky gear linkage remedy?
« on: August 22, 2023, 06:42:29 pm »
Whats everyone got to tighten up the gear linkages.

Mine are very clunky, always thought it was the engine mounts. But after replacing all of them with new oem + inserts I still have the clunk when changing gear, which at slow speeds is very noticeable.

Was thinking of going this 034 solid bushing kit but not sure if it will even fix the issue!

Have you tried resetting the shifter and cable's home position?

If that doesn't help, the cable bush under the car can wear out causing a lot of slop.  Need to drop the exhaust to get at it.  There's also a few bushes on the shift stick and a ball/socket.  Look up dieselgeek for pics and parts.
