Hey all
Had an 05 mk5 GTI for about 6 years now and it's been brilliant overall.
Had a few lights ,codes and things happening over the last month that are starting to make me think I've got an electrical issue.
Quick backstory on what I've had done recently.
Fan kicking in needlessly before lockdown- changed thermostat in lockdown.fine
Fast forward to early this year
Fan kicking in needlessly -gave it to mechanic ,had thermostat
replaced,cambelt,waterpump and brakes.
Month later ,fan kicking in early again, took back to mechanic, cleared some codes, been fine up till last week.
Last week ,parked on a carpark with a steep gradient, reversing back ,pulled the front bumper off partially
This week ,fan kicking in needlessly,ABS,Traction control light ,with 3 beeps turning on every now and then while driving.Today an extra light ,PAD wear sensor.
I scanned it with carista and got.
P0441 tensioning bow lowered
P0480 transmission range gear switch
00668 vehicle voltage terminal 30
01598 electric vehicle battery voltage
Had a look at fuses in the engine bay ,all look fine ,except on the 'pre fuses'?
I've got all 80/100 amp fuses but a bit of googling ,the first one ,should be 150a- 200a?
I don't anything about car electrics ,I can do bolts and part changes .
Just looking for any info on maybe what to check ,abs sensors ,control modules, locations of wiring or sensors that may have sprung a code.
Any help much appreciated.
I'm hoping not to have to go to the mechanic with a new list of codes to remedy
