Exhaust advice
« on: September 20, 2023, 10:02:18 pm »
I need to replace my downpipe gasket, hangar bracket and exhaust so it’s an. Excuse to potentially get a full exhaust system

Not sure what to go for. Thinking sports cat to avoid MOT issues (currently got decat) and non res?

Any reasonably priced options. Been looking at cobra and milltek

What engine do you have and what are your power and torque goals? Any budget?

I really like the classic Milltek system for sound but it isn’t the best flowing so wouldn’t put it on a K04 car if wanting big stage 2+ numbers.

Also buying a quality system with a sports cat can be quite expensive. £1k+ I think. Knocking out the pre cat and fitting a catback is also an option.

No performance goals just want it slightly louder than what I currently have but still relatively quiet on idle but makes some noise on WOT and acceleration lol.

Running stage 2 KO3 turbo 290bhp and c. 320/330ish torque from memory.

I've got a resonated (grown up) Scorpion cat back, and I love it. It's really not too loud but you can tell it isn't standard which is exactly what I was after. Mines a standard k04 car.

I've got an MPDevelopments 200 cel sports cat. Best for bang for your buck apparently. Sounds lovely, nice rasp, haven't put it through an emissions test yet.

Much more petrol smell than there used to be, but half as smelly as a decat. That's my not-so-scientific emissions test for ya

Mine came with a non res cobra cat back - it droned and droned + supper noisy - had to get another silencer added in.
I always find mainstream sport cat downpipes to be very pricey - I replaced my downpipe with this from ebay £460 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300361586764 - well built & quality product with genuine Magnaflow sport cat - only issue is I need the rear lambda mapped out, periodic CEL will pop up.

I've got a 2.75" Milltek non res catback + HJS 200 cell sports cat.  Not at all loud and passed the MOT fine.

That’s great thank you. Getting a custom system setup quoted for and then will decide on what to go with

BCS Powervalve, speak to Dave and let him know what your after. I went for a non-valved, complete system, sport cat 200, Hybrid - In the middle of prestige and sport.
Sounds just perfect.
