Wiper Stalk Question

(1/1)

shaggygti:
Hi all - Help / advice required.

Intermittent wiper has stopped working on my girlfriends 2005 Mk5 Edition 30 with Highline clocks and MFSW

I have a choice of wiper stalks 1k0953519h or 1k0953519j.

1k0953519j has the buttons on the end for navigating the onboard computer.
Currently the car has 1k0953519h fitted. This doesnt have the buttons on the end for the onboard computer. Car does have buttons on the steering wheel to allow onboard computer to be accessed.

I called VW who said it should have 1k0953519j fitted. Could I fit 1k0953519j so that the onboard computer can be navigated using either the steering wheel or buttons on the end of the wiper stalk?

Also the phone button on the steering wheel doesnt currently work. I wonder if this could be related to 1k0953519h currently being fitted, and if fitting 1k0953519j would allow this button to work?

Any advice gladly received.

Have either the clocks or mfsw been retrofitted?

I don't think so. I haven't fitted them.

Would looking at the sticker in the boot or handbook confirm this?

Dunno if this answers your question but the steering wheel control module is 1K0 953 549 BD.

Thx

If you can navigate the menu on the steering wheel then why do you want to be able to do it on the stalk as well?
My car has both as I retrofitted the MFSW but I never use the stalk for the menu anymore.

I think you had to have the communications pack or whatever for the phone button to work.

There are websites that you can use to decode all the production options found on the boot sticker which may give a clue as to what the car originally had fitted.
