Sticking Clutch Coming out of 4th
« on: October 02, 2023, 06:29:13 pm »
Hi guys

I've got a 55 plate GTi that has an intermittent sticking clutch problem. It only happens when changing out of fourth and possibly after having turned left (weird) but doesn't happen everytime. For a few weeks the pedal would feel sticky and bounce back up, but the other day it stayed to the floor and needed lifting back up with my foot. The car has had a new clutch and DMF fitted under my ownership last year but feel this may be a separate issue?

Advice appreciated.
Thanks, Leon

Weirdly enough I have the opposite issue. Mine is the same 'sticky and bounce back up' towards the top, but only on medium-hard right turns, e.g. roundabouts. Currently investigating it but haven't got any leads so far. Gear doesn't matter. It's never dropped to the floor though.

Could you do some more testing to pinpoint when exactly it happens? E.g. try engine braking before the turn to see if using the brakes beforehand affects it, verify if it's only on left turns and changing out of fourth. Are there any other weird things like sounds sounds or behaviour?
