Golf 6r intercooler

hi I had a small accident with my front GTI. Now when I was ordering parts I noticed that the MK6R intercooler costs the same as the MK5

Now my question is, does it make a difference if I install the larger one 38mm instead of 32mm

Do I then have a turbo lag when I install the larger one
