Mk5 Gti weird whining noise coming from engine that goes away once engine is hot

Whenever I start my car it has this whining noise that is linked to the revs (higher the rpm the more frequent the whining) that disappears once the engine is at temp or shortly after the engine is at temp.
Any help with this would be much appreciated as it’s been driving me insane for months.
