recent remap 30/3/2010
« on: April 05, 2010, 11:43:32 pm »
Hi i`ve recently had a remap.
Before i went i had it rolling road tested it showed 191bhp :sad1 and 220lb ft torque. When i got back i went to same rolling road and had it checked, now it`s 204.5 bhp and 250 torque.
I realise cars loose bhp over time but thought i`d have got a better result after remap.
Rolling road man said it was a good result. He was totally independant. confused can anyone shed some light on it please.

I have spoke to them and they are really helpful and willing to do another one free with a rolling road to check. not to keen on keep putting it on RR though. Should torque be more as well. ? Regal southampton

If you can get to Southampton then you can drive a bit further and use the trusty DD rollers at JKM in Portsmouth. Preferred by many a forumite here.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Did the guy doing the mapping check for faults beforehand?

191 sounds a bit low to start with. You may have something like a split diverter valve.

first off is the power stated as 'at flywheel' or 'at wheels' ?
as others have stated 191bhp for flywheel figure is low but ok for a @wheels figure.

so your car seems close or at good health for the std map...
with the remap the differential in std vs mapped seems very low. I would expect +40 bhp and +40 lbs/ft (roughly)
interestingly your bhp increase is very low but your torque is up by more which may indicate a boost issue.
(as others have said a torn diverter valve, boost leak etc)

It may also be, that following remapping the increased pressure has finally killed your DiverterValve which was just about coping on std boost levels
Tricky to change on a K03 car but the part itself is cheap enough (£45)

are you manual or DSG ?
Can you post pictures of the two plots up for us to see?
Which map is it? [edit : I see this is in the GAIC section  :signLOL:]
I assume you use high octane fuel too.

You need to get someone to check the car for fault codes using VCDS
(see if any members on here are local to you and are willing to help) to check the overal health of your car  :happy2:

like others have said its a fair bet your DV has just given up  :happy2:, quite common.

let us know how you get on

can you post up the graphs so we can see the entered data etc.  definately look into checking the diverter valve for tears and maybe even change it to the new D revision one which is much more duranle and only £50.
DD rollers?
Dyno dynamic rollers.  a stage 1 k03 car should have no issues hitting 235-240Hp on these rollers.  And these are renowned for accuracy although some believe they read low,.

I agree with the guys above, it must be a mixture of WHP and Crank Hp.  your torque is also down 270Ibft should be anout what to expect.  Agaon this could be easily caused by the DV being torn

Hi thanks for all info. I can`t scan graph as printer not working but here is the info.
left side of graph says" Flywheel power (hp)" and right side says" Flywheel torque (rat) (FtLb)"  peak standard was 218FtLb and 191.1hp
After remap graph same info but peaked at 250FtLb and 204.5hp
Same place same everything.

Always runs super from ether shell or bp.

Has anyone got the part number for the D revision diverter valve or should i get a evoms one. dont wanna spoosh noise!!

Yes they did check for fault codes and there were 4. but all gone except one which is P3193 intake manifold runner control.
Apparently i need new sensor which is £130+vat. Surely that isn`t going to give me 35 more horses and 20 Ftlb more?
Car has no cat and kn panel filter.  :driver:

To get rid of the Intake manifold fault you need to do basic settings.
That fault will knock low end torque and is usually cured by a new motor.

Not sure on the D revision part no. but it is on here somewhere.
