Damaged mk6 from Germany
« on: January 18, 2024, 09:49:20 pm »
I was thinking about importing a car from Germany.

I spotted this one, slight bump on the front. But also mentions a problem with the dsg "jumping in reverse"
Is it best to stay clear or something i could get fixed relitively cheaply?

Would def stay away from that. Could be a very expensive repair not to mention the car looks like its probably been ragged all over. Plus its not even that cheap.

I'd look at importing from Japan. Will be right hand drive, no rust and the cars there are generally well looked after. Plus if you do some of the paperwork yourself you will save a nice amount.

Probably needs the mechatronic solenoids replaced or a complete used, working unit. Over here a used good mech goes for 600-700 GBP. But 90% of them are imported from UK part yards, should be cheaper to get one from the UK directly. All used parts over here come from the UK, k04 kits, engines, you name it. UK is like GTI part heaven :D
