Misfire on idle. help needed
« on: January 23, 2024, 11:15:07 pm »
Hello, I have a mk5 gti bwa. I’ve recently developed a misfire which only occurs on idle. There’s also somewhat of a ticking sound coming from the exhaust due to this misfire. Whilst driving, it drives completely fine. I’ve had it mapped recently; during the health check, and whilst driving, every thing looked good and the compression is good too. Had carbon cleaning done prior to the map, new coils, new sparks. Put in some refurbished injectors today and the misfire is still persistent in cylinder 1. Does anyone have any idea of what it could be? I will be getting a smoke test done to ensure there’s no air leaks and I’ve been told it could potentially be the ecu too. Any help will be appreciated.

Have you done the cam chain recently?

The plastic rings fail with wear on the cam actuator if not re-inserted with care and give the result you have, as it happened to me soon after a cam chain change
