Nice one John, 4.6 to 60 is quite impressive  :happy2:

How much weight do you think you shed?  My mates running a Mk5 Gti (Dsg) in the VW Cup (#51) and has got it down to 1168kg with fuel and a full roll cage, with the weight of the driver its qualifies in the 240bhp class.

Been thinking of putting Eddy on a diet myself, seems the next logical step, I've had a chat with Sam @ VW Racing.

Hi Neil,

Weighed the car on the weigh bridge last night. The scales are accurate to around 5kg either way and without me in it and a near empty tank of fuel the car now weighs in at 1290kg.

Removing the OEM front seats for lightweight CF ones will save another 60kg, battery 10 kg, so without going too extreme I reckon you could get the car down to 1200kg :happy2:

Sub 1200kg easy Peasy.

since your taking the rear seats out there is no need for operating rear windows, plus the rear window is well heavy,, so £300 sheets gets you a seven piece poly window set.  lower centre of gravity, 20-30kg ish weight saving. Id leave the front side windows as they are though

In all seriousness mate that's an awesome achievement in any FWD car. Especially in as good an all rounder as the Golf is (although i'm not sure yours is quite as versatile anymore..  :grin:).
